Opposite party misplaced cheque asking to issue another is it safe

Dear Sir/Madam, I have issued a undated company cheque to one of my friends as a security of borrowing money. I have borrowed money on August 2012. I borrowed money by hand only. undated cheque number containg xxx was also given After i have given many cheques in course of time to varous persons and I also have settled his money by hand only. No proper bank records are maintained. But asking return back for the security cheque he says "it has been lost" or "have to search. Still nothing have gone serious. But I am worried with extreme caution that I have to get the un dated cheque back. Help
1. You can block all your unused cheques through bank and meanwhile request your friend to file a formal police complaint that he has lost the cheque.
