Legal notice served with wrong cheque numbers

18-Feb-2023 (In Cheque Bounce Law)
Dear Sir/Madam, I bought a Water purifier in 2016 with EMI basis and I have given cheques regarding this. Those cheques were cleared and the transactions were completed by the end of 2017. Now I have been served a Legal Notice which states that those cheques were nor cleared. After further enquiry the cheque numbers which they are mentioning are not mine but have my account number alloted to them by that company. I have asked for copies of the cheques for confirmation. What should I do now? Can I file a case against them?

hi since the cheques do not belong to you and that they have been wrongly tagged to your loan account , you should send a reply legal notice highlighting the discrepancy and ask them to withdraw the legal notice.
