Informed person over call to stop cheque, will it be legal ?

DEAR SIR, 4.11.2017 KINDLY GIVE ME FREE LEGAL ADVICE. ON 21.9.17 I APPLIED FOR FD IN RAGE MULTISTATE CREDIT COOPERATIVE SOCIETY LIMITED,HABRA,W.B. THROUGH MR & HANDED OVER CHEQUES TO HIM. ON 22.9.17 I INSTRUCTED MR OVER MOBILE PHONE TO CANCEL MY APPLICATION FOR THE FD & RETURN MY CHEQUES.HE AGREED.CONVERSATION IS RECORDED IN MY MOBILE PHONE.I ADVISED BANK TO STOP PAYMENT AGAINST THESE CHEQUES.TILL DATE 3.11.17 NO PAYMENT HAS BEEN MADE. ON 22.10.17 I RECEIVED THRU COURIER FD CERTIFICATE FROM RAGE MULTISTATE CREDIT COOPERATIVE SOCIETY LIMITED THOUGH NO PAYMENT HAS BEEN MADE. THE FD CERTICATE DOES NOT MENTION ANY PHONE NO & E-MAIL ADDRESS MENTIONED IS WRONG. HENCE I COULD NOT CONTACT THEM. CAN I BE LEGALLY ACCUSED FOR STOP PAYMENT OF CHEQUES? BEST REGARDS,
First of all I did not understand how the certificate reached your without clearance of the FD amount.After reading your query I have a doubt regarding the Company's authencity. You have done the right thing by stopping the payment of the cheque amount.i have a reasonable doubt whether they will file a cheque bouch case or not.If they file then you have enough prove to show the Learned Court that you cancelled the application.

As per the details given by you I would like to say , the section 138 attracts if you fail to make the payments by way of cheques in liue to discharge of your any liabilities but in your case you gave cheques to purchase something which later on you changed your mind and thus you stopped the payment , so according to me its nothing to worry , at best if you can give a written letter to them stating all the facts.
