Half amount return but when deposited the cheque it got bounced

I was issued a cheque of 32lac from a person to which he had paid 20 lakhs to me. i deopisted the cheque and got it bounced. i filed a case for the remaining amount. is it a valid case and can i do it?
Which case have you filed? If it's under section 138 negotiable instruments act it has to be for full amount of cheque and you can demand balance amount in the relief ask from the court showing deduction of amount received by you from total cheque amount
