Dishonouring a cheque with sufficiant balance in account

Can a bank dis honor a self cheque with sufficient balance in account. Further the validity of the cheque is with in the specified period , signature matches and all other criteria are met. In such an incident what he customer can do and covered under which section of NI Act. Thank you
you can file both civil and criminal cases against him before the concerned magistrate to get the amount in the cheque. you can also attach his property by filing a civil case against him. prior to that youbhace sent a registered lawter notice to him

Hi,
You can first ask the Bank for Reason for Dishonor of the cheque, if they doest provide you a valid reason, first step is you can file a direct complaint to Regional Office of the Bank and wait for a response, if the response is not satisfactory you can file a complaint to RBI Ombudsman via RBI website. If that's also not addressed your concern you can move to Consumer Suit by sending a Legal Notice to Bank.
