Issue Notice as its mandatory but if he still fails to pay then file a case of cheque bounce under s.138 of Negotiable Instrument Act R/w 200 of CrPC. In order to succeed in the case you need to prove that the cheque was issued towards legally enforceable debt.

Issue a legal notice to him within 30 days from the date of dishonour and give him 15 days to reply and then file a PCR before the magistrate. Narrate all the facts to an advocate and he will draft and get it done

Legal notice is to be issued to the person within 30 days of the dishonour date. The other person is given 15 days from date of receipt of notice to make payment. If he does not make payment within 15 days then you can file a complaint before the Court within 30 days after the expiry of the 15th day of receipt of notice.
