Cheque bounce and relief from the case

My sister husband runs a small clothes shop under my sister name and gst, pan is in my sister name. My sister never went to the shop or involved in any business activities. Now my brother in law absconding due to heavy debts. Now some of the creditors blackmailing my sister for police case of cheque bounce and shop is my sister she has to pay. Note, we don't have any assets or gold, all the gold presented as part of marriage my bil sold it.Now police file compliant in her. Pls advise.
Well, did your sister signed any cheques/promissory note/any other documents relating to the loan amount? If not, then you already have cogent reasons and if you can prove that, then your sister could get rid of these issues.
