Builder proceeded with check even though we cancelled the booking
17-Sep-2023 (In Cheque Bounce Law)
Book a apartment and paid 1L as token advance in Cheque(on Sunday) . Next we found that the Building will not be ready though it is marked as ready to move in, and also found some security issue.Next day morning we called the builder and cancel the booking. We stop the cheque from paying at bank. Even though the builder went ahead to encase it. The check got bounce . Now he is calling me and threatening me to take legal action. My query since we had cancel the booking and I did not owe anything, and if he take legal action, what should I do. Thanks!
If he sent legal notice for Cheaque bounce do give a rely notice for the same to abide the legal complication and escape from the liability . Pls feel freee ṭo contact for further details in regards to it

Your defence is quite good. Just keep record of the date on which you called the builder to cancel the booking. Also some proofs of the defects you noticed contrary to his promises. Keep the brochures in which such assurances are made by him.
