Bought a car from my wife now stopped making payments

I have got a car in name of my wife transfered to my name with assurances to give money of 5 lacks in instantallment by issuing her post dated cheques. And the discussion happened on watsapp.Then I made stop payment of some cheques as I had quarrel with my wife. She sent me legal notice under section 142(1). Can I defend myself or I have to should make payment
