Q: 2 lakh bond in current company 1 month got offer from BHEL 5 lakh bond

I had to sign a bond of 2 lakh for 2 years. I recently got an offer from BHEL Haridwar (PSU) as Executive Trainee which is asking for bond of 5 lakh rupees for 4 years (1 year training+3 years after training) in case I leave BHEL. They are asking me to get sign of relatives as Witness for the bond if I don't have parents. I don't have a family and live alone and not in touch with any relative since 2 years. (i) How should I proceed without getting in trouble? (ii) Should I inform HR of Quest?

Advocate Raghu Rajegowda answered
Talk to BHEL HR openly about your situation—they deal with such cases and can provide alternate witness options. • Keep records of all communications. • Ensure you fulfill any existing obligations at Quest to avoid penalties.

Q: College not returning original documents.

I discontinued my course after the 1st semester and followed all required procedures:Submitted discontinuation application on 21/04/2025Personally filled discontinuation pro-forma on 14/08/2025Paid all applicable fees (receipts attached)Despite this, the college has refused to return my original documents. I have already sent multiple emails on 26/08/2025, 29/08/2025, and 01/09/2025, but no response has been provided. This action is in direct violation of UGC Guidelines, which clearly

Advocate Raghu Rajegowda answered
The college is clearly violating UGC Guidelines by withholding original documents despite proper discontinuation procedures and fee clearance. Multiple follow-ups have been ignored. Next steps: issue a formal legal notice citing UGC regulations and demand return within a strict deadline (e.g., 7 days), failing which escalate to Consumer Forum or court for recovery and compensation.

Q: Basic Salary in the notice period

My employer has given me 1 month notice as per its terms and rules when my contract ended with the Client. In my case, Client has not given 1 month notice to my consultancy before ending my contract. Hence, my Employer is giving basic salary for this notice period. In the appointment letter it is mentioned that during bench period only basic salary will be given. Please advise me if there any legal solution to get the complete salary for my notice period.

Advocate Raghu Rajegowda answered
If your appointment letter clearly says “bench = only basic salary” and they apply it during your notice, it will be hard to fight legally unless your salary is within labour law protection limits. • If it’s ambiguous or doesn’t link bench policy to notice pay, you have grounds to claim full gross salary for notice period.
