Q: Didn't got chance to maintain balance & cheques got bounced
Gretting, I have current account in bank. But due to corona patients in the vicinity of branch, the local authorities closed the bank branch for about 8 days and in addition of holidays, branch remain closed for consecutive 12 days.In my business, as per the policies I have to maintain blank cheques with the suppliers that they used for payment at due dates. So as the branch was sealed I have no way to maintain the account balance ( no online method was available). Due to this the cheques got dishonoured and penalties we're incurred. Although we had mailed the supplier for the same, but they didn't stop the cheques.I want to know whether there is some law in favor of me so that the penalties caused by bank could be nullify .
Advocate Amit Lekhra answered
any transaction in bank is only applicable on working days ,so you can mail your bank regarding the penalties and ask them to waive off . if they refused to do so you can take legal actions under consumer and banking laws .
