Secretary asking for increased maintenance charges what can I do

07-Jun-2023 (In Property Law)
I am having a flat of 543 sqft and in GBM it was fixed that Rs. 50/- p.m. shall be paid by us for maintenance. Now as I have given my flat on rent, the Secretary of our Apartment suddenly phoned me and demanded maintenance charges @ Rs. 1000/- In my apartment, the flat owners of 1200 sqft flats are also paying @ Rs. 1000/- I am having the flat of less than half of their space, why should I pay equal amount ? I requested to held a GBM and settle the issue amicably but they are not doing so. Moreover, they stopped taking my maintenance charges from Dec.'15. What to do ??

if you live in a cooperative housing society, you can raise a dispute under the West Bengal Cooperative Societies Act. Send a notice to the Secretary of the society demanding that they either accept maintenance charges as per the old arrangement, or you shall approach the Registrar of Cooperative Societies raising dispute as per the Act.
