You can make a transfer in your wife's name by following the provisions given under the Registration Act, 1908.

The property transfer has to be registered in the Sub Registrar's Office, applicable to the area where the property is located.

Documents required would be the proof of ownership and the registration details of the property in your father’s name etc. Stamp duty and Registration fee may be applicable.

A local lawyer would be able to help you in this regard and guide you accordingly with other legalities that you may be required to fulfil to make the transfer legally safe and sound.
