Employer asking to work on weekends without any salary raise

18-Mar-2023 (In Labour & Service Law)

I was hired by a big company as an contingent employer along with five other members from different consultancy. We all joined this big company because they gave weekends off and now all of a sudden they want us to work during weekends too full day without any addition to salary. We have told that if we dont work during weekends they will give us notice. What should we do?

Assuming you are in private employment. Generally your employment is governed by the terms and conditions of your employment contract. So, if it is not specified in your employment contract that you are entitled to 2 days off every week then they can ask you to work on weekends aswell if the work demands.
