27-Jan-2023 (In Family Law)
my grandmother expired recently.my father also expired .she doesnt has anymore sons ordaughters.we are her granddaughters. plz tell me whether can we claim the property
Grandsons/granddaughters have share in ancestral property of their grandfather.
If the property of the grandfather is self acquired then, it will vest in his widow and children only after his death.
Then from the share entitled to the grandfather's children the grandchildren will be entitled to that much share only.

HI
Since you are the grand daughter's you are entitled to claim your share of properties as legal heirs.
if there are no other claimant's , you should do the following
a) Obtaining the death certificate from Municipal/Panchayat office of your grand mother and father.
b) Obtain a family member certificate/ legal heir certificate from Mandal revenue office of your grand mother and your father
c) Based on the family member certificate issued by the mandal revenue office, you can enter in to a settlement deed and mutate your grand mother's property in to your name after paying appropriate stamp duty and registration charges.
