Procedure to change the name in the documents

In my all education document my name is mentioned as Roopa Chaurasiya where Chaurasiya is my surname. Correct surname spelling is Chaurasia (Without letter 'y') with same phonetic sound. I recently got married and my husband also has correct surname as Chaurasia. Now I would also like to correct my surname as Chaurasia (Without letter 'y'). I am planning to apply for marriage certificate now and currently I am doing professional course and will be looking for Govt. Job. Now if I get changed/corrected my name through affidavit then how new name can be used in Govt. job where still all education
You can change your name by following the procedure for changing your name officially - the process for the same has been described below:
For change of name one has to get an affidavit prepared stating reasons for change of name and also the new name. Then the same needs to be published in two newspapers having wide circulation in your area, preferably one in English and other is the local language.
After due publication the same has to be published in gazette for notification with appropriate forms, fees and documents for publication.
After publication in gazette the new name comes into force and request for change of name can be made in all appropriate offices.

Along with the affidavit, you will also have to publish it in the newspaper. Changes in name (after following due process) is recognised and you will be referred to by your new name. You can contact your college to see if they will change the name on your marks cards after you change your name.
