Is father's name necessary in a birth certificate

i have two kids of live in realation...the person is not with us.he is setttle in life ...and i dnt want father name in my kids birth certificate ..is this possible
The Supreme Court has directed municipal bodies not to insist on the name of the father while issuing birth certificates for children born. Therefore it not compulsory to mention father’s name in birth certificate.
