Police ask us to be present in police station wife filed complaint

Today My father got a call from police station that, My wife given a complaint against me my father and my mother. Police ask us to be present in police station, should we directly present at the police station or not?, if we will not present at the police station then what step mill police take. My wife complained in Hyderabad police station and i am staying at madhya pradesh. Requesting you please guide me what steps to be followed.
