In Selvi v. State of Karnataka Supreme Court has held that Narco Test/ Polygraph without the consent of the accused is inadmissible. If it is done with the consent of the accused then it is admissible as evidence under the Indian Evidence Act, 1872. AS the Indian Constitution gives protection to the accused by way of Article 20(3) which specifically mentions that no person shall be forced to give evidence which is self incriminating.

Sir police can conduct lie detector test during investigation on its own without requiring any such order from court.. But it is not a 100 percent science in the eyes of law.. However this kind of test are rearly conducted by police ,, maybe on very high stake matters
