We have been married for 10 years and have an eight-year-old daughter. At the time of our marriage, my husband had another woman's name on his passport, which he did not disclose. Years later, I discovered this, and he gave flimsy excuses. He does not have any divorce documents or proof of the other woman's death. I do not trust him. What to do if you find out your husband is already married? Can my marriage be considered illegal based on this? I want to end this marriage, but he is not willing to divorce me. Please suggest how I can proceed, as I also want sole custody of my child.

Q: How can one seek relief under Section 9 of the Hindu Marriage Act?

I left my husband's home approximately one and a half years ago after he and my in-laws assaulted me in front of neighbors. My son and I have been living with my mother since then. Two months ago, my husband filed a case against me under Section 9 of the Hindu Marriage Act. There are ongoing cases under the Domestic Violence Act where he and his family have been found guilty, and they also face FIRs. Please advise, as there doesn't seem to be any basis for the Section 9 filing.
