Cheque bounced,notice received,need to reply and ask for time to repay

Hello Sirs, My father issued a cheque to a person to whom we have to pay some money but due to unavailability of funds cheque bounced. We have received notice and we need three months time to repay the said amount. what should be our reply to advocate notice. Further cheque given was from joint a/c of father and mother so person issued notice to mother also, can i invalid notice to mother as she has no knowledge about said transaction of my dad with above person. Your kind suggestion

A reply need to be given through an advocate, and reply would be given accordingly to notice you have been served. If u need time for the payement you can also consult with party if he agrees then there will be no issue if not then you have to give a reply of the notice through an advocate.
