Does unregistered will in favour of only child require probate

both My parents died within a week and my father left a will with two witnesses ,keeping me sole heir being only child. what do I need further to claim his only house( DDA flat) /bank FD's and ppf where my mother was nominee and she also left within a week.

You will have to obtain a legal heir certificate from the tehsildar's office. After that you can go for probate as being a sole heir does not makes the will free from process of probate. Thus, you will have to apply for legal heir certificate and then opt for probate of will.

You need to get the Will probate with the help and presence of the witness.. File a probate petition in the court of jurisdiction and you will get the will probate. It includes certain steps and it will take about 4-6 months
