Firstly please be clear as to before whom you are willing to file RTI is it just a private company or a private company which is owned, controlled or substantially financed by government. In case of former you cannot prefer RTI as it is out of ambit of Public Authority and in case of latter you can prefer RTI as it is a Public Authority. It is so because RTI is applicable only to Public Authorities. As regards filing of RTI is concerned then it is in nature of a simple application which is addressed to the Public Information Officer of concerned Public Authority which is accompanied by fee of Rs. 10 which is payable in face of a Postal Order or in whatever way as determined by the concerned Public Authority. It is obligation of concerned Public Information Officer to furnish reply within 30 days from date of receipt and in case applicant either does not receive reply or is not satisfied by it he/she may prefer an appeal before First Appellate Authority within 30 days from the date when reply should have been received/ from the date of receiving unsatisfactory reply. Said appeal need not be accompanied by any fees and shall be in a similar form as that of an RTI application.

You know that according to RTI act there is no rule that they cab give you information regarding something. If you need any information related to you, then you have send legal notice to that company .

Your Question is not complete, but according to my understanding, if you want to inquire about Private Companies, you can always go to MCA website (www.mca.gov.in) and do a public search on the company to know its Financial status and management detrails.
