Question regarding Recovery Agents in such a short time

31-Jan-2026 (In Recovery Law)
I took a loan of ₹23,000 from Rupees112 on 4 Jan 2026 for an emergency, with a 15-day tenure and 1% daily interest. The due date was 19 Jan 2026. Despite repeated attempts, I couldn’t arrange funds on time and informed the lender. However, they continue calling and emailing repeatedly, demanding full payment and threatening visits to my home and office. It has only been 12 days since the due date. Is it legal for a loan company to initiate visits so soon?

The lender’s repeated calls, emails, and threats to visit your home or office within 12 days of the due date may amount to harassment under RBI guidelines and applicable debt recovery laws. You may issue a legal notice demanding cessation of harassment and propose a repayment schedule. If the harassment continues, you can file a civil suit for injunction or, in case of undue delay by authorities.

No, RBI guidelines strictly prohibit harassment and unannounced visits at odd hours. Debt collectors must follow a code of conduct; they cannot threaten or intimidate you regardless of the delay. Hope you got the due clarity within you.

While lenders have a legal right to recover their dues, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines strictly prohibit the use of harassment, intimidation, or threats by recovery agents. It is entirely illegal for them to continuously harass you with phone calls or threaten aggressive, unannounced visits to your home or workplace.
