money not paid by my friend, what to do

i had given a person some(in lakhs) money, but he run away from here and living somewhere else, now my question where should i file the suit against him. and what actions i can take against him in civil as well as in criminal laws. and also tell the step of case.

first you tel in which form you give money to that person. I mean cash or by bank transfer. hav you any cheque for security or not. if not then you can file a civil recovery suit from both places where you live or where he lived. or if you have any dealing for do some other work then you can make a police report. against that person.
