08-Jun-2026 (In Recovery Law)
I have loan in bahrain but recovery team (indian agency)sent email to my current employer. It this legal to enquire about my personal details.
Next Steps:
Obtain a copy of the email sent to your employer.
Check whether the agency disclosed loan/default details or merely sought contact information.
Send a legal notice to the recovery agency and lender objecting to unauthorized disclosure of personal financial information.
File complaints with the lender's grievance officer and relevant regulatory authorities, if applicable.
If reputational harm or harassment is established, consider civil and other legal remedies.
A recovery agency cannot automatically obtain or disclose your personal information without proper authority or consent. However, whether the email sent to your employer is lawful or amounts to harassment/privacy violation depends on the contents of the email, the terms of the loan agreement, and the manner in which the recovery process is being conducted.
If confidential information regarding your loan was shared with third parties unnecessarily, you may have legal remedies available. It is advisable to preserve all emails, communications, and related records. Kindly share the email sent to your employer and relevant loan documents for a detailed legal opinion regarding your rights and the appropriate legal action, if any.
