Friend defrauded me out of money

A close friend of mine cheated me out of money over the course of 3 months in early 2023. He made up stories and I trusted him because of our friends and the nature of the stories. He used to make me transfer money to different mobile numbers by telling me that the money is stuck with a company and they want a little more to pay me back in batches. I found out the truth in the end that he was gambling the money away. I have WhatsApp chats, screenshots, transfer details of everything.

First of all rather than going legally you should serve your friend a legal notice and in that notice you can write that either pay my money or face legal action which will be at your own risk. After that if your friend fails to give you a satisfactory reply then you can anytime file a recovery suit in the court to claim your money back along with compensations. And keep safe all the evidences as it will be useful while filing of the suit in court. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.

firstly you have to give legal notice to him than file case before court along with all proofs you have... you can also file criminal compalin to create pressure on him contact us if your case is from delhi.

Dear Client Since there is no agreement between the two of you, proving a legally recoverable debt from your friend will be difficult to establish before the court. However, your options are twofold to approach the courts with a civil recovery suit or lodge a compliant for cheating before the appropriate police station having jurisdiction.
