Financial fraud done by my mother's friend

27-Jun-2026 (In Recovery Law)
My mother lent money to her friend when she needed, the total principal amount is 7 lakhs. Not the full amount at once, she needed 3 lakhs at first, my mother lent her 3 lakhs, there is a signed bond paper, and they gave a blank cheque, and they needed another 2 lakhs, and in nov 2023 they needed another 2 lakhs, so its 7 lakhs. Now the borrower is claiming she took only 3 lakhs, cuz the bond paper is only for 3 lakhs. we have strong evidences and multiple evidences. Need the estimated fees.

Based on the limited facts provided, it is not possible to determine the exact legal position or the amount legally recoverable without examining all documents, payment records, and surrounding circumstances. The outcome will depend on the nature and admissibility of the available evidence. The estimated legal fees also vary depending on the facts, proceedings involved, and the advocate engaged.

Based on the facts stated, your mother may initiate both civil recovery proceedings and, where the facts disclose dishonest intention from the inception, appropriate criminal proceedings after legal evaluation. The signed bond for ₹3 lakhs does not, by itself, extinguish the claim for the remaining amounts if subsequent payments can be proved through bank transactions, messages, acknowledgments, witnesses, or other documentary evidence. The blank signed cheque and other supporting evidence may also strengthen your case, subject to their legal validity and admissibility. A comprehensive legal notice should ordinarily be issued before initiating appropriate proceedings. The professional fee depends upon the nature of services required, the complexity of the matter, and the stage of litigation. The exact fee can be assessed after scrutiny of all relevant documents and evidence.
