Contractor took 75% money completed 25% of work

I wanted to renovate my house. Contractor took 75% of money and completed just 25% of work. He is now asking for more money. We dont have registered agreement. We have simple agreement. Now we dont want to continue with him as he is fraud. We want to get remaining work done yourself. What precaution we should take so that he dont claim anything in future like should be get the whole work done documented legally with photos? If yes please let me know the steps.

Yes, I have read your query and understand your problem. There are some remedies to recovery certain money from contractor. You have right to recover of money as per CPC. If you need any legal assistance we can advice you accordingly.
