Bank Legal Notice For Credit Card Amount Recovery

Hi All, I got the legal notification from bank due to non payment for my father credit card but he passed away in April'21, when he expired i blocked the all cards and when i received the calls from banks i always informed that he is no more but still i got the legal notice for payment... please suggest what should i do also what bank can do it in this matter.

If you have already blocked the cards then no amount is liable to be paid by you. Also the account belonged to your father and after he demised you very well informed them in time, so despite that if they are proceeded sending legal notice then you should reply to the same with all the corrects facts and proves. You being the legal heir to your father need to clear all the dues for the same. The bank can initiate a civil suit against you for recovery of money. What best you can do to avoid it is, approach the bank and try to settle the amount amicably with them.

The bank can file an action against you. Credit card is a monetary issue and the person who will get his assets after his death will have to bear the consequences and liabilities for any sort of credit card or other financial issue.

You can, for now, send them a reply to the legal notice and also, try to settle the matter if required.
