What is the compensation for death in a hit and run case

A truck hit the motorcycle from behind injuring my father who was driving and death of my mother on the spot. It is a hit and run case. I have the following queries: 1. Apart from MACT for what compensation are we entitled to. 2. A lawyer is saying that he can get us a compensation of 3.5 to 5 lakhs by suing Delhi Government, he is asking for 25% of final compensation. 3. Under which government scheme is he promising us the above said compensation. 4. Our motorcycle has a comprehensive insurance what should we do to claim it. 5. Time period within which we should file the case. Thanks
At present under the Motor Vehicle Act, compensation for hit-and-run deaths is Rs 25,000 while for grievous injury it is Rs 12,500. The road transport ministry had also started a solarium fund under which victims of hit-and-run cases can claim compensation.
in case of an accident where the registration number of the vehicle involved is known, the legal representative of the deceased will get Rs 50,000 as compensation whereas person grievously injured will get Rs 25,000 as compensation. The application, here, will have to be made to the district claims tribunal.
