Clarification regarding transfer of motor vehicle ownership

21-Jul-2023 (In Motor Accident Law)
I want a legal advice regarding my bike which I sold 3 years back and I want to know about the details whether it has been transferred on other person's name or not. I don't even have registration number of that bike. I am in Jamshedpur right now and I bought and sold that bike in Bangalore. If something untoward happens in future then what consequences will I have to face and how can I protect myself from that now only?

Well as you described earliar if you have sold away the said vehicle & registration of said vehicle still persists in your name, the entire liability & responsibility in respect of said vehicle will go to your shoulder. As per MVAct you are the legal owner of the said vehicle. Even in case of criminal liability you will be not safe.

For the present you are the owner of the bike and any untoward insidents happens the the entire libelity will be on you therefore transfer the ownership as soon as possible by contacting the person to whom you sold the bike
