Tenant's intention to not vacate despite my eviction notice to them

My tenants started living in my house since March 23, 2015. I want them to vacate my house as I feel they dont intend to vacate my home and are liars too. I gave them a notice to vacate on email on September 17th to vacate in a month. Please advise me, am I required to give him a notice through registered post with Acknowledgement ? or my friend can deliver a notice to him personally as I dont live n that city.
You should send the legal notice through a lawyer through registered speed post or Registered post.
