Landlord not returning deposit

My previous landlord in Bangalore is not returning my security deposit. The amount in consideration is 19k. I have whatsapp chats of what we agreed upon and payment proofs. No formal agreement signed between us. I have moved to Noida now. So wondering if I will have trouble getting my deposit back. I want the landlord to pay deposit with interest + legal charges + compensation for mental agony. What should be my next steps ?

Consolidate Evidence: Gather your signed rental agreement, bank transfer proofs, rent receipts, move-in and move-out photos/videos, and written/WhatsApp chat history showing your requests and the owner's promises or excuses
