Landlord Not returning token amount of 10K What action can I take

26-Jul-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
We have given Rs 10,000 as token advance to the landlord and now due to personal reasons we can't shift to that house. We have informed the landlord but now he is refusing to pay back the amount. We have informed him in a week time only and we have not yet signed the agreement also. Can I take any legal step to get my money back?

We would recommend that first you send a legal notice to the landlord through a lawyer asking him to pay back your deposit.

Also send him a letter specifically stating that vacant and peaceful possession of the premises has been handed over.

Even If he doesn't reply to the legal notice then a case can be filed against him regarding the recovery of your dues in the concerned civil court.
