Landlord locked my rented house without formal notice

12-Sep-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
I returned to my rented house after a period of 2 days. Meanwhile dude to outstanding Electricity dues the Company disconnected the Connection.IThough my landlord had informed I didn't have money then to pay.I have had defaulted my rent also on few occasions owing to some financial hardship I was going through. But I came good in the last few months and made some chunk payment of around 55k in 2 months. But, isn't locking me out without notice, without communication with all my valuables , essential documents and prescribed medicines illegal and unethical ? Can I take legal steps against my landlord .Can I cut through the outer lock to get my entry to the flat to which I have keys? What legal actions can be taken , how to go about it and can I ask for compensation?I missed two business opportunities since I didn't have my credentials with me.Although I pleaded and sighted me coming good on payments in the recent months this ordeal went on for a week.I paid of electricity dues, btw! Thanks

Dear Client,

You need to speak to you landlord regarding locking you out of the premises and the issue related to it. you need to settle the matter by yourself before taking any legal action. You can pay all the dues to your landlord and serve him with a notice that you may leave the premises within 2 months. he should agree to this. by this you will be able to have an access to the property as well. and if still your landlord does not allow you to enter the property you may take the help of local police to take your belongings and evict the premises.
