Landlord forcing to vacate agreement signed for 2 years

24-Mar-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)

I have agreement on 100/- stamp paper, notarized, submited in police station and submitted in society. the agreement clearly states that it is for a period of dec'14 to dec'16 and have given 24 rent cheques. This agreement has a lock-in period of 24 months and can be terminated till 24th month only by mutual consent during the first 24 months. the landlord has sent me a whatsapp message that i should vacate by 1 may since he has a family problem. i also explained my reasons for not being able to vacate early than dec'16 but he is insisting. what should i do?

In such a case terms and condition of the contract prevails. In case of a lock in period, the landlord cannot evict you before the expiry of the agreement.
