Landlord did not return security deposit

05-Sep-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
Landlady claimed unreasonable deductions and showed the balance to be zero out of the Total security deposit amount of rs 70,000. She had agreed that I deduct rs 500 every month towards high maintenance.after 3 years, she wanted an 20% hike in the rent to which I did not agree. Because of this rage, she kept harassing me during the notice period. Finally, She deducted the monthly deductions happening from last 3 years from security deposit. Showed some other outrageous deductions and made the balance to be zero. Is this legal? What are my lawful rights to protest against her?

no this is not legal and you can file a suit before the Hon'ble court regarding the dispute. i presume that you have an agreement between you and your landlord. the landlord has no authority to deduct the money for which you are not responsible to pay.
