Landlord asking for another months rent because no new tenant found

25-Apr-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
We are living in rented house. We have provided a deposit of 1 lakh to the owner . Now house owner has asked us to vacate blaming us that we are wasting water. our rental agreement period expired but was not renewed again as we were planning to move to another house. Now the house owner is telling that we have to pay the rent for another month as he has not found a new tenant. So my questions, The rental agreemnet tells that 2 months notice from either part and not 2 month rent. So can the house owner claim rent ? Secondly the rental agreement has already expired, So is it valid?

If you have served one month notice as per the agreement, then the landlord cannot force you to pay for an extra rent for a month. You can ask for security deposit by sending him a legal notice or can adjust the same as your rent
