Friend staying as tenant now not vacating the premises what to do

We have one tenant. We asked them to vacate the place. The reason is that he is unable to pay rent on time. There is no agreement between us because he was a friend. What action can we take?
Facts are incomplete. Though no agreement executed, but was any rent receipt issued ever? Whether, the rent paid in cheque or cash? When was he inducted? Is the premises situated in Delhi or outside? Depending upon the answers, we should decide further course of action for his eviction.
