Wrongful termination because of denied relocation

21-Jun-2026 (In Labour & Service Law)
I am employed with a employer based out of Bangalore. I am being terminated, my last working day as informed by my employer is 8th of July. I joined on February 25th and I am on probation period. They are terminating me because I refused to relocate to Bangalore and performance concerns. My offer letter clearly states the work will be remote working when not working from onsite and they don't have any documentary evidence to show my poor performance. Can someone guide how can I navigate this?

You may have legal remedies if your termination is contrary to the offer letter terms or is arbitrary. Share your offer letter, termination communication, and related documents with me and I can review them and guide you on the best legal course of action.

Preserve your offer letter and emails. If remote work was agreed, termination on relocation grounds may be challenged. Seek reasons in writing and consult a labour lawyer regarding remedies as per the concerned provisions of law.

Since you are on probation, termination is generally easier. However, if your offer letter permits remote work and relocation was not mandatory, preserve all emails/chats. Seek written reasons for termination and ensure payment of all dues, notice pay (if applicable), and experience/relieving documents. Consult a labour lawyer if terms are violated.
