Resigned and serving notice period but manager is not accepting.

29-Dec-2023 (In Labour & Service Law)
I have resigned from my current company and i have almost completed my notice period as well. But my manager is not accepting as he wants me to repay the anount which i got appraised in month of march 2023. For example- i got hike in my salary by 6000 rup so he want me to pay 6*9 = 54000 or deduct the amount from my salary. As i never signed any bond at the time of appraisal it was just verbal commitment with my manager that i will not leave the company for 1 year.

Verbal commitment is not enforceable under law. So you are right and you should ensure that your manager states his demand in writing so that you can challenge the same in future. However, if you need your relieving letter and FnF immediately, the manager may cause delay until you make this payment. Depending on these scenarios you can act after consultation.
