As per new Indian Criminal law, IPC Section 429 has been replaced with BNS Section 325 with effect from July 1, 2024.
(The upper limit of imprisonment is increased from two years to five years. Scope is expanded greatly by amending it to “any animal”.)

Whoever commits mischief by killing, poisoning, maiming or rendering useless, any elephant, camel, horse, mule, buffalo, bull, cow or ox, whatever may be the value thereof, of any other animal of the value of fifty rupees or upwards, shall be punished with imprisonment or either description for a term which may extend to five years, or with fine, or with both.



IPC 429 in Simple Words

If someone intentionally harms or kills valuable animals like elephants, camels, horses, or animals worth fifty rupees or more, they can be punished with imprisonment up to five years, or fined, or both.
