OCI card for foreign spouse. delays or rejections.

21-Jan-2026 (In Immigration Law)
OCI card (foreign spouse of Indian citizen) is under process for 9+ months. (Applied at an Indian embassy) Goal: to get my spouse an OCI card, as we are legally married for 2+ years. What are my options? RTI? Writ petition? Both? Any other strategy? Or a price breakdown?

After 9+ months delay, you may file RTI to check status, send legal representation to MEA/Embassy, and if no response, file writ petition in High Court. Writ is effective remedy. Fees depend on lawyer to lawyer.

Use RTI to check status; follow up with Mission/FRRO; writ only if delay is unreasonable after that. OCI spouse apps require interview; typical issue ~30 days after ack as per the concerned provisions of laws applicable in your case
