Will I be responsible for my father's credit card debts?

06-Aug-2023 (In Family Law)
I am a Hindu female and my only other sibling is my younger sister. My father has a habit of racking up credit card debt. If he is unable to repay his debts or passes with such debts, will I be legally responsible to pay for them? Is there any way to prevent this?

Your father and you are two different people hence only he is responsible for his acts. His debt can be repayed from his assets only. If you hold any of his assets then only you are responsible to repay it otherwise you and you sister is safe. Moreover if you wants peace of mind then you can issue a notice to general public through newspaper.
