Wife threatening to commit suicide how can husband save his name

02-Jan-2023 (In Family Law)
I am in immense tension due to threat of committing suicide from my wife for all unlawful demand such as jewellery, money etc. My wife's father is from poor background and we are a well to do family. And now she wants that her father will stay in my house forever. (My wife's mother is no more) And if i disagree then she will commit suicide. I know she will not actually commit suicide but at least i want to take some legal action to release my tension and have some protection from law in case such thing happens in future. I am okay to file divorce petition or any other act which can give me protection from this threat. AS of now i just want legal protection form threats rest of the thing like divorce etc may be dealt with later on.

This is mental harassment ,since in law cruelty has not been defined properly it will be considered as cruelty , for your case it is better you go to the jurisdiction police and lodge a complaint by recording your wife threat and keep it with you safely and along with your complaint you establish that their is threat of suicide by your wife with regard to her unlawful demand and police has to register the case and call your wife and take statement of her so that it will be helpful for you in case if she commits, you can also take the entire police statement by the police for your safety.

You can file a divorce petition on the ground of mental cruelty or else if she ever commits suicide you will be in danger. Even threatening to commit suicide is a mental cruelty. Best case for divorce on the ground of cruelty
