what is the share of two wife and children in died father's property

Hindu joint family, father expired in 2004, leaving behind ancestral property. Father not made a will. Father having stepmother and her married daughter. Father having two sons and two married daughters. How the property will be shared among above people. Will step mother and step sister are eligible for a share in property? Step mother getting monthly maintenance from fathers children.

Further details like when the second marriage took place and when the children from the second marriage were born and if it was an official second marriage or was it only live in relationship during subsistence of 1st marriage is required to answer your query

Please see Section 8 of the Hindu Succession Act. It would make clear as to who is entitle to what extent of land. Stepmother,her daughter, married daughters is also entitled to share, Mother or step mother make no difference if they acquired the status of wife of your father's father. According to Hindu Law first wife and children gets the share but the circumstances has to be seen by filing necessary application as Hindu Law does not permit second marriage which is illegal and about spouses born would not get right.
