What is the procedure for adopting a child within the family

We are a childless couple, married for 10 years. We wish to adopt my sister's child. Is it possible to adopt a child within the family? If so how do we go about it?
Hello ,
How old is is the child ? You can adopt your sister's child by executing adoption deed.
Natural father and mother will give the child in adoption.
Said Adoption deed to be registered with sub- Registrar.

A adoption deed can be made as you are Hindu. It can be then notarized it or registered whatever you want. If the party have agreed to give you the child then notary is enough. It is not mandatory to register it.

If this is between Hindus then execute and register an adoption deed between the you and your husband being one party and the biological parents of the second being other party . Thereafter a Petition can be filed for you both to be parents of the adopted child in the Court additionally if required add prayers for directions to modify name in the birth certifacte of the child.
