At the most your aunt will file an FIR against you. However, this being a family matter, the Police tends not to intefere and lodge an FIR. Feel free to contact me for seeking any legal advice as regards the same.

In situations like this, your aunt could potentially pursue legal action for defamation, harassment, or intentional infliction of emotional distress, depending on the nature of the words exchanged and the laws in your jurisdiction. However, since it was a mutual dispute, the fact that you were reacting to offensive remarks about your deceased parents could serve as a mitigating factor in your defense. Having witnesses who can confirm her instigating behavior or verify her disruptive nature may help strengthen your position if any legal action is taken. It may also be beneficial to avoid further confrontations or exchanges with her to prevent escalation and to document any further interactions or threats from her. This can provide you with evidence if the situation develops into a legal matter. Consulting a lawyer could give you clarity on any specific risks and ensure you’re prepared in case your aunt follows through with her threat.

1. Defamation and Harassment Claims: If you made offensive or derogatory remarks, especially about her or her family, your aunt might have grounds to file a defamation or harassment complaint. Even if others witnessed or supported your stance, it doesn't necessarily negate the possibility of a legal complaint. 2. Defending Against Allegations: If she initiates legal action, you may need to provide evidence that your statements were a reaction to provocation or were not intended to harm her reputation unfairly. Witness statements might help establish context but may not fully prevent legal consequences. 4. Mediation Option: Consider reaching out through a neutral third party to de-escalate the conflict and avoid prolonged disputes.

Well, if you have said something wrong about your Aunt, which is not true and defamatory in front of your relatives, then, she may file a case of Defamation, which you can also file against her if she told lies about you, spread rumors, falsely insulted about your dead dad in front of your relatives.
