Special Marriage Act and Muslim Marriage Act

20-Nov-2023 (In Family Law)
Being a Hindu boy I engaged with Muslim girl through special marriage act on June, 2017. Both family are ok with this and there is no tension as such. Girl's family want us to do few rituals and sign Muslim marriage act on 2023 for sake of relatives' preference. Is it legal to have two different marriage certificate with same person on different date? Which certificate will remain valid now onward? Will there be any legal complication if I sign Muslim marriage act?

marriage can only be done under one act. in this case since you have already got your marriage registered under the special act then subsequent registration under any other act is void and your declaration on the occasion of second registration can cause complication. regards, Tanmoy Chattopadhyay, M.Sc (Net), LL.B (Delhi), Advocate, High Court, Calcutta.

To give opinion, it is necessary to know whether you wish to be converted ,i.e., whether you wish to profess the Muslim faith or religion. It is extremely relevant in this context. To get my legal opinion professionally upon online payment, you can whatsapp.
